POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The person in this position will provide professional psychological services to individuals residing and receiving services in Region 2 Broome, at Valley Ridge CIT under the supervision of a licensed psychologist or other appropriate licensed clinician. This person will design, develop, and administer psychological tests; conduct psychological evaluations; develop and implement plans of treatment for individuals and groups including Behavior Support Plans; participate in and lead individual and group counseling sessions; write progress reports; and maintain a wide variety of records. The purpose of these activities is to prevent or eliminate symptomatic, maladaptive or undesired behavior; enhance interpersonal relationships, personal or group effectiveness; and improve behavioral health and/or mental health.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
For (A) Psychology Trainee:
Under the close supervision of higher-level psychology staff and as a member of a treatment team, assist in administering psychological tests and in conducting psychological evaluations and research. Also assist in the development of treatment plans, counsel individuals, and assist in individual, and group therapy. Perform other duties as assigned. For (B) Psychologist 1:
Under the general supervision of higher-level psychology staff and as a member of a treatment team, perform psychological evaluations; develop and implement plans of treatment for individuals and groups; provide technical direction to program staff; maintain records; and write reports. Perform other duties as assigned. For (C) Psychologist 2:
Perform duties similar to those of a Psychologist 1 but handle more complex problems and situations and have greater responsibility and independence. You may also act as a supervisor to subordinate staff. Perform other duties as assigned. For (D) Associate Psychologist:
Function as an advanced clinician and provide professional psychological services under the clinical supervision of a Licensed Psychologist. In addition to assessment and treatment, duties may include:
clinical leadership; program management; forensic or court-ordered assessment, treatment and expert testimony; psychological services requiring expertise, specialized assessment (functional, personality, risk, competency, vocational, education); design and application of behavioral technology and other specialized psychological interventions; individual, group or family therapy; crisis intervention, consultation; training and peer review. Perform other duties as assigned.

From $61270 to $100342 Annually

Qualifications:
Must be in title OR on the Civil Service eligible list OR be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 in a designated title determined by the New York State Department of Civil Service OR be eligible for provisional appointment pending exam. For Psychologist Trainee:
You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position. Candidates must have a Master of Psychology degree from a regionally accredited college or university psychology degree program which prepares graduates for clinical positions in the field of psychology in a clinical, forensic, community mental health, or school setting. Qualifying degree programs must have included coursework in psychological and behavioral assessment, and treatment modalities for psychological and behavioral disorders For Psychologist 1:
You must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Psychology Assistant 3. For all others, you must take and pass a Civil Service examination or be eligible for provisional appointment pending exam to be considered for this position. Candidates must have a Master of Psychology degree from a regionally accredited college or university psychology degree program which prepares graduates for clinical positions in the field of psychology in a clinical, forensic, community mental health, or school setting. Qualifying degree programs must have included coursework in psychological and behavioral assessment, and treatment modalities for psychological and behavioral disorders; AND you must also have two years of supervised post master's degree experience in a clinical, forensic, community mental health, or school setting, where your primary duties were providing psychological services as described below. Substitutions:
o A doctoral degree in a clinical field of psychology may be substituted for both the education and experience requirements above. o A clinical psychology practicum, externship, or fieldwork assignment, that was completed as part of a qualifying Master of Psychology degree program, may be substituted for one year of the required experience. o A certificate of advanced study in a clinical field of psychology or school psychology may be substituted for one year of the required experience. For the purposes of qualifying for these examinations, examples of qualifying degree programs/majors include but are not limited to the following:
clinical psychology, clinical forensic psychology, community psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, and child psychology. For Psychologist 2:
